From The Hips is made up of four diverse, forward, and raw personalities that form into one when meshed together. Each member is influenced by different artists and has different outlooks on creating music which makes From The Hips appealing to any and every music listener.
NICK SMITH is the hardest hitting drummer in the midwest. His power, speed, and quick foot is exact. His rhythm and fills are anything but ordinary and you'll feel each pound in the pit of your stomach. Some of Nick Smith's influences are John Bonham (Led Zeppelin), Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters), Nathan Followill (Kings Of Leon), Fab Moretti (The Strokes), Oran Thornton (Flick), and Pat Kearney (The Black Keys).
CHANEL SMITH has bass drops that thump so hard she'll vibrate the floor beneath you. This chick will make you feel the rhythm in your nerves and each groove in your bones . Some of Chanel Smith's influences are Kim Deal (The Pixies), Matt Sharp (Weezer), Jim Cratchley (Tribes), Sean Gadd (Grouplove), Jared Followill (Kings of Leon), and Zach Lindsey (MONA).
ETHAN SIMON creates guitar riffs and solos that will agressively attack your eardrums and leave you feeling weak in the knees. His style is angular and bent but full of soul. Each twisted note and sound that Simon pushes out into the air will force your heart into your stomach and tilt your blown mind to the side. Some of Ethan Simon's influences are Oran Thornton (Flick), Jonny Greenwood (Radiohead), Rory Gallagher, Alex Turner (Arctic Monkeys), Mathew Followill (Kings of Leon), and Blind Boy Fuller.
EVAN MORROW forms melodies and lyrics that each have a mind and story of their own. He's everything rock and roll is about when it comes to being the frontman. He's forthcoming and honest but remains a mystery nonetheless. Your eyes won't stray far from Morrow when he's up onstage; his stage presence will own the entire room. Morrow's vocals and lyrics are powerful, romantic, raw, rugged, and comforting all at once. When he's singing about our everyday lives the listener has no choice but to feel his message and relate. Some of Evan Morrow's influences are Ray Lamontagne, John Mayer, Chris Cornell (Soundgarden & Audioslave), Eddie Vedder (Pearl Jam), Bob Dylan, and Ben Harper.
So there you have it. A little taste of this band and each member. Rock and roll needs a revolution but we're starting in the heart of the States right in this town of Springfield, MO. We'll need all the support we can get to prove rock is still alive and kickin. So let's give rock n' roll a shove and start a movement!
