Jason Hurta & The Reformed are an up and coming country band in the Texas Hill Country. Formed in April 2013, the band consists of a bunch of good 'ol boys that love playing and singing their hearts out. The Reformed not only play and sing, they write some great songs. They're great because they write about what they love, whether it be God, their wives and kids or the great little Texas Hill Country town they all live in, New Braunfels, TX.
Sinton, TX native Randy Miller rocks out on the drums for the band. Originally a seasoned guitarist, Miller found his passion playing drums. Now you can hear him do some great things on the drums while he keeps the band sounding great on his Gretsch kit. Miller lives and breathes drums and it shows in the finished product he puts out.
Marble Falls, TX native Joey Cox has been playing guitar since the age of 13 and it shows. Cox, also an accomplished songwriter, can lay down guitar licks like nobody's business. Joey wrote 3 of the songs that are on the band's soon to be released CD. Cox and Hurta are the founding members of the band and were primarily an acoustic duo until the opportunity to form the band came about. For several years, Cox played guitar with his brother, Wes Cox of the Wes Cox Band. You'll enjoy watching Joey playing both acoustic and electric guitar in the band's diverse lineup of songs.
There's no one quite like the band's bass player, Wayne Thoms. Hailing from Skidmore, TX, Thoms has been playing guitar since the age of 9. He's always been a bass player at heart and gravitated to it after hearing the soul pleasing sounds of the bass guitar. The true non-conformist of the band, he grew up listening to the country greats of the 70's & 80's. Thoms will do bass runs on songs that truly do justice to that great instrument called the bass guitar.
The lead vocalist of the band is Jason Hurta. Growing up in Edna, TX, he began singing at the age of 5. The first song he sang was that great Hank Williams tune There's A Tear In My Beer while he stood in the middle of his parents bed. He would also sing in the little church his family was a part of. Singing never became serious until he entered a contest called Brauntex Has Talent in New Braunfels. He was chosen as one of the 6 finalists. Although he didn't win, it sparked a singing fire that he wanted to explore. Hurta is also a songwriter and has written 5 of the songs that are on their soon to be released CD titled Best Friend. His songwriting style includes ballads, bluesy songs and even some songs that poke fun at modern day society. Hurta's latest singing adventure was a recent trip to Nashville to sing in the second round of American Country Star. Out of 4,000 singers, Hurta made it into the Top 200. For now, Hurta enjoys living the dream in New Braunfels, singing with this great band and writing songs that mean something to people.
