Cicada was formed in 2013 when Daniel Kelly and Clint Jones began playing and writing music where any good band starts. The garage. In late 2013 Steve joined the band and what they had was a combustible Edison. With a passion for the same music and a desire to be a stand out live band they draw influences from many of the great rock bands. Heavily influenced by the movement in Seattle and described as a cross between Nirvana and Silverchair's early work the boys are hungry for success. In January 2013 Cicada released 4 demos getting airplay in both South America as well as the United Kindgdom.
With a heavy focus on live shows they recently played the Emergenza festival at the Metro to a packed out venue and won getting through to National finals, placing second in a pool of almost 400 bands. They have also played sold out shows at the Oxford Art Factory, Factory Theater, and other notable venues across NSW.
In September 2015 the boys started work on their first official release, a self titled 5 track EP including the titles. The first two singles 'Feign' and 'Break me Down' have already been received with critical acclaim across the world and the band is set to release the full EP in both digital and physical formats at the end of October.
Keep an eye out for them as they will be playing shows both locally and national in the coming months.
