Brando's Island / Bio

Brando's Island is a band that believes in the beauty and necessity of sonic expression. With a wide scope of influences, they live in the middle of a cacophony of sounds and focus them into a unified truth that speaks to individuals looking for an identity and threads the masses together. Hard-rock, blues, punk and soul drip from their songs into the listeners cup to create a delicious cocktail of fun, insightful and expressive music that will make you laugh, scream, dance your ass off and leave with a song in your heart.

Brando's Island is made up of members from diverse backgrounds and from all over the country. The guys have performed together in varying incarnations since 2005. That's if you don't include brothers Chris Reed and Josh Bushueff who have been there for each other since the beginning if time.

In 2006, Chris Reed was cast in the play TWELFTH NIGHT alongside Brandon Wardell to form the show's comic relief and musical duo. This was in New York City and the director's name was James Bond. They became instant friends and Brandon became a fan of Chris' band Osiris. Brandon was a Broadway performer in New York and played in the band Violet Crush. When he and Chris sat down with Chris' guitar a bottle of whiskey and huge amounts of mutual respect, they agreed on their need to make music together.

Chris and Brandon made music together, but never ended up in a band together as the time just wasn't right for it. Chris was busy with Osiris and Brandon was fronting the GnR tribute band Nighttrain with Case Newcombe.

Chris and Brandon went their separate ways for a while taking part in countless individual music projects in countless places. Brandon met drummer Brent Stranathan in the theatre circles in New York during this period. Chris moved to Los Angeles and enjoyed success playing bass in the band that would eventually turn into Badwater.

During all of this time, Jordan Bennett was in Nashville working as a bass player and honing his bass skills.

Fast forward to 2010 in Los Angeles. Chris was looking to start a new band project and Brandon was in town on tour. They got together and formed Space Cock with the assistance of Badwater drummer, Zack Downes and Matt Munroe, who Chris had played with in Osiris, on bass. Zack and Matt can play anything and in the few minutes they had to spare, made it possible for Space Cock to exist. This lineup is the core of the current band with Chris on Guitars and Brandon as the front man. They played several shows with this lineup until good fortune drew them apart again and Brandon had to leave town for another long-term gig.

During the next year, Josh Bushueff made the journey west to join his brother Chris to complete the guitar section of what would become the permanent lineup for Brando's Island. In November of 2011, Brandon moved to Los Angeles permanently. Brent Stranathan had also moved to Los Angeles and they decided to get a rehearsal space together to work on writing and playing. When they all found themselves in a room together that they discovered an uncanny musical connection.

With the addition of multi-instrumentalist Jordan Bennett on bass, Brando's Island would become complete.

After many hours of honing their sound and having countless people knock on their studio door in Hollywood asking who the hell they were and where they could see them, the band decided on the name Brando's Island and started to get their asses into the clubs for you. Today, you are stranded on that island. Enjoy.
