BROTHERS IN EXILE is a melodic-thrash metal band based in Philadelphia, PA. Members include Adrian DeFuria (vocals), Dylan Stewart (guitar), CJ Costantino (guitar), Darien Kirst (bass) and Kevin Williams (Drums).
Formed in the summer 2012, Brothers in Exile blends the power and melody of early metal, the speed of modern metal and the traditional vocals and drums of classic heavy metal. Influenced by Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, Slayer, Metallica and Megadeth, as well as the modern work of Pantera, Machine Head, Lamb of God, Children of Bodom, Avenged Sevenfold, In Flames and Trivium. The music of Brothers in Exile is a powerful mix of pulsing rhythm that entertains and engages audiences in a manner reminiscent of great metal legends.
Brothers in Exile was formed when Stewart, Costantino and Williams, drawing on their experience with other bands over the years, decided to form a new band, dedicated towards the goal of evolving a new heavy sound drawing on the basic foundation of rock music, updated to encompass historic metal trends. Within this framework the three musicians began work on the bands first two songs; Call of the Conqueror and Firesoul. Joined by Defuria (October 2012) the band finalized these two songs and began work on three more; Brothers in Exile, Martyr's Chains and Triton. The four of them recorded the debut Brothers in Exile five track EP at Bad Lab Studio in Tabernacle, NJ with Dan Pilla in January of 2013. With the addition of Kirst on bass in February of 2013, the lineup was completed. The debut EP by Brothers in Exile was released in a supercharged atmosphere in Trenton, New Jersey on March 15, 2013.
Since that time the band has continued to perform, evolve and write new music for its first full length album due in Spring 2014. Just one year into existence, Brothers in Exile has already played in many well-known venues in the Philadelphia/New Jersey region and is building a growing following through its fan base known as the "Army of Exiles". Of the five band members, Costantino and DeFuria are over 21 years of age while Stewart, Williams and Kirst are 20 years old. Brothers in Exile was one of 54 artists selected from hundreds of applicants to perform at The Liberty Music Fest in Philadelphia, PA, August 2013.
Recognizing the roots of rock, infusing it with the raw edge of metal and evolving it to include the passion and energy of the fans of rock, Brothers in Exile is an emerging musical force. Exemplified by the song Martyr's Chains, a fan favorite where the first eight notes serve as a clarion call to all who dare to be exiled and let the metal begin!
