Brooke Mackintosh / Bio

Brooke Mackintosh is a songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and natural born singer, raised in Salt Lake City, Utah. At the age of 25, she experienced a spiritual "awakening" and the closet songwriting receptionist, and Queen of karaoke, metamorphosed into "Brooklyn" and left everything she knew behind to pursue her lifelong dream in sunny San Diego, CA.
Without a plan, she quit her job, packed all she could fit into her mini-suv, including her dog, her cat and two guitars and moved into to a tiny 5th wheel in El Cajon, CA to begin her journey.
Within a month, she found work and moved to Central San Diego where she stumbled upon a uniquely supportive songwriting scene. A year and a half later, she released her first album, "Brooklyn, Blue Skies Await" and quit her day job to become a full-time musician. A local television show called MyTV13 picked up one of her songs, "Believe", which played at the end of every weekly show, but she believes her success was directly attributed to a show she produced called "Brooklyn & Friends", which occurred twice every week at different Hennessey's locations in the Gaslamp District and Pacific Beach. She would invite 2 other local songwriters to join her on stage, back each other up and share songs in the round. No longer just another artist, Brooke became known as a local music show producer and promotor.

She enjoyed many musical collaborations, including teaming up with "Blue Skies Await" producer, Sven-Erik Seaholm in a duo appropriately named, Seaholm Mackintosh. Their fully produced, co-creation, "Monarchs" was Nominated for Best Pop Album at the 2011 San Diego Music Awards, the same year as the birth of their son.
They lived together in Seaholm's home recording studio (Kitsch & Sync Production) and she was delighted to be of service providing backing vocals and harmonies to multiple projects including STLA, in which she helped create dreamy songs with harmonies in a dance-lounge vibe with Seaholm and good friend, Nisha Catron.
In 2013, the duo split and Brooke went home to her family and the mountains pulling at her soul. STLA was released later that year.

Beginning anew in her home state, she worked her way up from the bottom quickly, establishing herself with regular residencies at local restaurants and music venues, including a 20’s inspired Italian Restaurant, Zucca Trattoria and a charming music venue, The Lighthouse Lounge, both vitally located on Ogden's Historic 25th Street. There, she can still be found serenading diners at Zucca's every other Wednesday and at the Lighthouse Lounge every Sunday, featuring occasional guest artists, while guests enjoy Brooke's Mountain Soul music, brunch and a full bloody mary bar.

Solo, Brooke has shared the bill with renowned artists, such as Steve Poltz, Gregory Page, Brad Carter, Brother Dredge, The Shook Twins, Joe McQueen and Sammy Brue. She performed the National Anthem for the first Utah NASCAR race, which was Nationally televised and had over 10,000 in attendance. She has since performed original work for hundreds of venues, festivals and events in the Western U.S, including the The Belly Up, Humphreys By The Bay, Snowbird Resort, Snow Basin Resort, San Diego Fair, La Jolla Art & Wine Festival, OFOAM Ogden Music Festival and The Sundance Film Festival, etc.

In 2016, The Brooke Mackintosh Band began to emerge quite by happy accidents. Both
Scott Rogers, a multi-talented musician and songwriter from Tupelo Mississippi, and Scott Sluis, a dynamic drummer from New York, on seperate occasions introduced themselves at one of Brooke's Lighthouse performances. They were casually invited to join her onstage for a song or two and they've been regular additions to her show ever since. When the three of them play, they're lovingly referred to as Brooke Mackintosh & The Great Scotts.

Brooke, her bandmates along with special guest artists are currently recording her latest project with Seaholm Mackintosh partner and Producer, Sven-Erik Seaholm. The New album, "Amusement For Time Travel 'n Daydreams" is scheduled for release this Summer, 2017.

A unique genre, Mountain Soul is the fusion of Americana Folk/Pop intermeshed with Jazz, Blues and Soul music and is not commonly pigeon-holed. It is the source of Brooke's music...Her Mountain Soul.

Albums available on iTunes and CDBaby.
