The Backsliders started around 1992 when Steve Howell and Chip Robinson began playing as a guitar-mandolin duet. They put together an electric group in the spirit of the Flying Burrito Brothers and the Rolling Stones. Rock and Roll dudes playing country-tinged tunes with just the right amount of don't give a damn attitude. The group came into its own with the addition of Danny Kurtz on bass, Brad Rice on electric guitar and Jeff Dennis on drums. The line-up of 2 electric guitars, acoustic guitar, bass and drums became the backsliders calling card. After signing a deal with Mammoth records they released "Throwing Rocks At The Moon" produced by Pete Anderson. They released a live ep "Live At The Brewery". After releasing "Southern Lines" produced by Eric Ambel the band fell apart. In 2012 a new lineup with Greg Rice on keyboards in place of Brad's 2nd guitar began playing again.
