Blackbird 3 plays a lively mix of hard-bop, blues, New Orleans, Latin jazz, and acid jazz. The group is best defined as a hard swingin' jazz trio rooted in the bebop and post bop traditions. The trio’s warm emotional playing is solid yet relaxed when laying down a groove. Their influences are the hard driving soul-warming jazz music associated with the great trios of the post bop age. Their style has a modern approach to the way they feel a song, yet their artistry, passion, and skill is a direct homage to the great trios of Oscar Peterson, Gene Harris, Ramsey Lewis, Red Garland, and Keith Jarrett.
