First hitting the stage in January of 2013, After the Clearing quickly made it known that they weren't here to follow trends. They set out to mold metal back to its roots. A sound that was previously vacant in their local scene.
The original members of ATC consisted of vocalist Fred Marriott (formerly of Shattered Envy, Intrinzik), guitarists Mick Ross and Jay Dauback, bassist Mike Ortiz and drummer Matt Chilluffo. Throughout the spring and summer of 2013, the band made it a point to play out nearly every weekend, and even some weekdays, sharing the stage with bands such as Taproot, The Agonist, Diecast, and Internal Bleeding along the way. They made sure to cover all corners of the CNY region between Utica, Rome, Syracuse, Albany, Cortland, etc. “After the Clearing” was readily becoming a household name.
However, everyone knows that every great story has a bittersweet second chapter. With the departures of Jay and Matt in July, the search was on to find anyone even capable of filling the talent gap. In late September the search was over with the announcement of guitarist David Myers (formerly of Structural Integrity Compromised) and drummer Brandon Baker (formerly of Perfect Disorder). Since then they have been 5 writing machines gearing up for their upcoming EP release, currently being produced by Matty C Beats.
