Calvin Conway / Bio

Calvin Conway has been playing and recording in Chicago for years. He often takes the train to play music and he uses the inspiration from the the rails to write songs. This new album, Dark Horse Deluxe, delivers what he's been working on for a few years. He's stood by this album through thick and thin and is proud to share it with the world.

As part of a long lineage of musicians and farmers - of healers and teachers - his folks got him singing and playing music from the start. Those days set the stage for a lifelong immersion in sound. Music has been a faithful companion and driving force through every part of his journey.

A note on the harmonica - He had a dream about the sound as a kid. When he began to play the harmonica in the alleys and streets of Chicago, he took to the harp and he loved playing it. Once he started writing songs with the harmonica, everything changed for him. To round out his sound in the studio, he plays bass, guitar, violin, lap steel guitar, whistle, and random percussion. He sings with some powerful ladies on the album and that thick sound is all over Dark Horse Deluxe.
