Hi and welcome to my page.
My name is Alex and I'm a singer/songwriter from London.
In all honesty I never dreamed of writing and singing music as a career but as I've learned the hard way, life has a way of throwing curve balls at us. Growing up I always wanted to play cricket professionally but due to bad in injuries that has yet to materialise.
The last year of my life has turned me upside down as I went from being in love in what I thought was a very happy stable relationship, to being cast out into the harsh world once again on my own. Initially I really struggled with the pain and confusion but I found a haven in writing music.
I started out as a pianist and can also play the clarinet, saxophone and a bit of drums. I didn't really have much confidence in my singing until a friend pushed me to pursue what I'd begun. I continued to write and now have enough material for a whole album with many more songs in progress.
I come from a very musical background - My father was a professional trumpet player who played with the likes of The Who, The Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton and the Spice Girls. So having had a diet of all sorts as I grew up, I have a very diverse range of influences on my music. I use elements of Country, Jazz, Blues, Classical and even Musical Theatre - whatever I feel best portrays my emotions at the time.
I hope those who listen to my music who can understand the struggles of a sudden unexpected change within their love life will relate to my music.
I'm currently in the process of setting up a home studio so I can record my album so look out for that in 2013!
I approach this with no expectations, I love writing music and I love to sing. If anything comes of it it's a bonus but ultimately it's about putting my emotions into music and I hope you enjoy.
