The origin of Modern Day Atlas dates back to 2002, when our heroes convened for a childrens music project. Realizing that music for moppets was not gonna work, the guys decided to form a real band, albeit one that was primarily a studio project. The band took the name Modern Day Atlas from the title of one of their songs. Recording for what became their album "Let It Settle" started in 2004; the album was released in 2006. Meanwhile, the band decided to take their ideas outside the confines of the studio; live gigging commenced in 2005.
Whether live or recorded, MDA attempted to be the 1st purveyors of a new genre, Prog Pop...intricate arrangements and chops combined with pop melodies and short song lengths.
The inevitable Behind The Music issues set in, and the band called it quits in 2007. Almost 6 years later, the newly energized trio have decided that the story needs a new ending. As a result, Joe, Dave, and Mike have decided to reunite for one show tentatively scheduled for Spring 2013.
