Derek Watkins (a.k.a. Dking) founded the group, "Legacy", with the help of his cousin Tradarius Houston (Yung B) in 2009. They were inspired by various artists and deemed it Aneccessary to begin their own musical careers. Shortly after this epiphany, they started the group, “4K ENT", which had a few major hits such as, "She Left Me For The Fame", and, "Can't Take Nothing From Me" both were produced by both Derek Watkins and Tradarius Houston.
On November 1st, 2009, three more members became a part of "4K ENT"; Cody Drake (Elite), Diante Patterson (Dmoney), and Jamahrio Trammell (Moon), and afterwards "4K ENT" rose throughout the media. The next month the group held its official recording in one of the downstairs basement of a group member's home. They held this recording as a group named "O.K.E. ENT". Now, as "O.K.E. ENT" they had been what producers would call "new comers" to the game but, in 2010 they made their names known in their hometown (Roanoke, AL). They also recieved a large amount of views and plays throughout Mississippi and this publicity was due to their Myspace Music Page.
As "O.K.E. ENT" they only released two mixtapes; "Hood Hooligans (2009)" and, " The Come Up (2010)". This was because the group underwent a minor break-up due to a 'diss' track towards O.K.E. ENT that was sent by another local music group called "Lost Calls". O.K.E. replied back with a diss track that ended the so-called “Lost Calls” careers as rappers. As a result of the feud,"O.K.E. ENT" split up. A few days after the split, "O.K.E. ENT" remerged as "Legacy" and in order to put the break-up behind them, they adopted a new motto (One for all and All for One). "Legacy" then began to record in their own studio and they are currently still located at this place.
"Legacy" has performed at many venues including; birthday parties, local parties, and high school events. They have also had a song played on a local radio station. "Legacy" has only dropped one mixtape but has released many songs. "Legacy"'s first mixtape was released recently and is called "Born A Legacy (2011)" and was publicized by Legacy’s Fan Club and Street Team throughout their hometown. "Legacy" as a group has recently had many hits such as; "Balling is a Habit", "D.O.A. (Dead or Alive)", and, "On My Clock". Today, "Legacy" isrecording in their studio, doing what they do best: making beats and inspiring people to push their abilities to the limit. "Legacy" is produced by their very own DJ, YB (The Streets' Hero). "Legacy" is coming straight out of Roanoke, AL and still trying to achieve their dream. Derek (Dking) is currently working on his own mixtape called "MillBrickz".
