Long ago on Isla Manawakawuhu, there lived an indigenous tribe called the Musikans. They had a deep connection to the ocean and all of it's glory. They praised the gods for all of the beauty and tranquility the sea had brought. The gods had made a pact with all of the tribe, they were forbidden to leave the island, but in return they were given nothing but eternal sunshine and happiness. There was one however, that defied the gods. He built a raft and set out in the middle of the night. The gods cursed his vessel with harsh weather conditions and maelstroms. The debris that flew off of his raft tore apart his face leaving him hideous for all eternity. He sank to the bottom of the ocean, never to be seen again. The gods offered to spare him, but he had to wear a mask, a mask that would be recognized through the centuries. He washed up in southern California, where he met a group of musicians. Now he will live on forever as the Surfabilly band KON TIKI.
