As the established home of the Blues and birthplace of Rock ‘n’ Roll, Memphis, Tennessee is proud to introduce another brand new genre, “Rhythm and Greens” with the Mason Jar Fireflies.
Adam, a former MC focused in Hip-Hop, Greg, an unreconstructed Dead head, and Kyndle, a life-long singer in church, may sound like strange bandmates, but the combination is magical. Kyndle and Adam’s voices blend so perfectly that their deep connection on and offstage is evident. While they may strike you as a family, Greg has no relation to Adam or Kyndle, yet the generational mix works wonders for this trio. Those who have seen them live can attest to their unique stage presence.
All three have been making music for decades. Kyndle, a spirited singer who has been perfecting her art in church since the age of four, originally wanted to pursue a career in Broadway and performed in several stage productions before joining the band. Greg has been playing anything with frets since his early teens. Adam has been writing songs since he was five. As the group’s principal songwriter, he says that he tries to write “the kinds of songs that Dad would play”, drawing influences from the golden ages of R&B and Country music. The band’s “Rhythm and Greens” sound might be described as Detroit meets Nashville. Through their combined talents, the Mason Jar Fireflies bring something totally original to the table, blending contemporary pop sensibilities with nostalgic, “down-home” roots music.
