Hailing from Washington, DC, Jordan King (also known as “PHYRE”) is a talented singer/rapper/poet who loves expressing her emotions through her gift of musical creativity. Jordan King’s music is a unique combination of R&B, Soul, Hip-Hop, Jazz, and Funk that just can’t be categorized in a specific genre. She is known for her versatility. Her hometown’s music scene also influences her style. According to Jordan, DC is a place where “people take their time to make music”. You can hear the DC influences of Go-Go in her music. This clever lyricist will blow you away with her musical imagination. With her eccentric style, brilliant lyrics, soulful voice, and versatile spirit, she is able to reach both young and mature crowds by song, rap, and poetry.
Jordan King is also known for her intriguing stage presence. She says, “I love performing on stage. I love to command an audience’s attention. When I’m on stage, I feel like I’m at home.” She has performed at many hot spots in the NY and DC areas, including The Apollo Theater, Webster Hall, The Cotton Club, Six Flags of America, Drom NYC, Howard University, The Brooklyn Museum, The Bitter End, and Zanzibar on the Waterfront. She has also been a recurring performer in various showcases at her alma mater, Five Towns College, and was featured in the 2012 Christmas concert with Boston's own Renese King & The Melrose Symphony Orchestra.
Jordan has most recently been interviewed by Urban Teen Magazine, and her music has also been featured on YC Radio and Westside 98.6 FM. She is the 2012 CEEYO!! Rap Battle Champion, Underverse's Artist Pick of the Month for July 2013, and has also been featured in music videos for the Conan O’Brien Orchestra & Tito Batista, /_\drian Daniel, and Blaque Keyz. While working on her solo musical career and performing with her band, "The Hustlers", she also performs with /_\drian Daniel & The Stoners, Mo Brown Suga, Sheldon Ray, Taneka Samone, and Tamara Wellons as a background vocalist/rapper.
Jordan King is a graduate of top-rated performing arts school, Five Towns College, in Long Island, NY, where she majored in Jazz/Commercial Music & Music Business, and developed and honed her many talents. She is currently working on her first mixtape, which will be released in the summer of 2014. She is looking forward to building her fan base, and eventually touring worldwide. She works tirelessly to further her musical career and continues to influence people’s emotions through her music.
