2014 looks like a promising year for John Michael Ray. After spending the past year fronting his band, Dirty Bourbon, Michael has joined the band, Broken Silence, from Uxbridge. A great group of musicians Michael hopes to make a lot of great music and play many great shows with. Michael also reformed his band, Dirty Bourbon with new players. 2 bands are keeping him busy, but he loves it that way.
Back to the bio:
Michael spent 10 years in his late teens and 20's, rubbing shoulders and working with and learning from some of the best Canadian musicians in the business.
As life sometimes does, Michael stepped away from music to raise a family, and concentrate on his career.
After almost a 20 year layoff and many life changes, Michael started writing again in the summer of 2007.
In the past couple years, he has recorded demo versions of over 70 original songs which he wrote, did all the singing, and played all instruments.
Michael recently spent most of 2011 singing for a Durham Region band called 19 Dayz. They helped him get his feet wet again, playing in and around the area for 6 months. That came to an end late in the year. As of 2014, there is a chance for the nucleus of Michael on vocals, Bryce Reid on drums and Dave MacMurray on bass, to recreate some of the magic they had together with a new project.
"I want to thank all of you who have become fans for supporting my efforts. I really don't think of most of you as fans. You're all part of an amazing 'street team', and again, I thank you for that."
