BEN MAKINEN www.benmakinen.com
Ben Makinen began working as a professional drummer in 1984 while a junior in high school. He started composing and producing records in 1994 while touring internationally with blues, rock, latin and jazz bands in addition to performing on cruise ships and in Broadway shows. Locally, Ben has performed as a percussionist with the Central City Opera and the Colorado Symphony and has worked as a freelance drummer for many Colorado Front Range bands.
Makinen founded his record label and publishing company Bmakin Music in 2001 with the release of his funk band's recording Area 15 Live. His first solo new-age recording, Lost Lullaby, came in 2004.
Last year saw the release of three more recordings produced by Ben Makinen: his second solo electronica journey titled The Goliath Beetle & The Ladybug; jazz & blues vocalist Leslie Brown's freshman outing Tenderly; and Brown Palace entertainer John Kite's debut release of Broadway show tunes titled Anything Goes!
Ben is preparing a collection of original children's music for release in 2014 and has composed an original score for the indie film Strong Tea shot in Denver this summer. He and Natalie Izurieta are currently collaborating on Izuri's first recording.
