Big Charlie's Rubber Band had it's humble beginnings at the University of Maine, Orono where Nicholas Mather, Mesa Schubeck and Matthew Johnson all attended. The halls of 1944 immersed them in an atmosphere of classical, jazz and contemporary music where they all studied as performance and education majors. For both Nick and Mesa songwriting became part of the practice and repertoire as well. After graduation each went their own way, traveling, working and continuing to play music. In the summer of 2012, the three musicians reunited to evolve the group known as Big Charlie's Rubber Band. After performing as a trio in New York City, Connecticut, Maine and Vermont and creating two independent albums, the band decided to take their unique style to the Music City.
Currently based in Nashville, TN, Big Charlie's Rubber Band is expanding their horizons in their pursuit of writing, recording and performing music.
