Conceived on the floor of a meditation group in Scranton, PA, and birthed over a mid-summer, Sunday afternoon cup of coffee, Jane Demijohn is essentially the pairing of Sarah Yzkanin (Dealer in Wares) and Matt Schleck (The Mercury Display, Stiffed, The Lottery). Admittedly crafting their "spooky folk" sound from influences like Nick Drake, Alice in Chains, Jeff Buckley, and Mazzy Star, the duo is unsure of exactly where they are going....and that's exactly how they want it. "The overall plan is to put as little ego as possible into our work, and then see what happens," says Schleck. "The result has been astonishing to us. The songs, for lack of a better phrase, 'write themselves.'" If we could all take a trip back to the '90s, this time with a little less angst, Jane Demijohn would be the perfect soundtrack.
