Driven by a good-humored and friendly nature, The Missingjays arrange songs that blur the lines between melodic rock, upbeat dance and folkie pop. Often referring to themselves as an “Indie Barbershop Quartet,” The Missingjays mix four-part harmonies with lyrics to sing along with into every song. The Chicago-based group is currently working on their first EP.
Born and raised just north of NYC, the brother-sister duo of Phillip and Allison Mandel began writing songs and playing piano as young children. Allison, who is full of energy and always ready to play, crafts songs that express all the sentiments and passions of life. Previously, Phil sang, played keys, and bass in the NYC Indie rock band Drive Texas, and currently sings and plays bass in the Chicago band In Threes. Shortly after Allison completed her adventures in Japan, she joined Phil in Chicago where they started compiling their sounds and eventually formed The Missingjays.
In the summer of 2012, the siblings recruited Brian Dunne and Chris Williams to join their power-pop duo. Brian, originally from Knoxville, Tennessee, has an amazing ability to morph rhythm while simultaneously captivating audiences with his baritone harmonies. On bass, Chris charms everyone with his wit, and contributes a most impressive vocal range and tone. Chris, who hails from Columbus, Ohio has been heard on MTV with his previous group The Iry. With those two on board, The Missingjays were complete.
Family and friendship shine through their meter as The Missingjays bring a blend of instruments, catchy melodies, and sharp four-part harmonies to the stage.
