MIKEY RIOT is a journeyman singer/songwriter, originally hailing from Dallas, Texas, but living in Pittsburgh, PA after stops in Harrisburg, IL, Shreveport, LA, St. Louis, Chicago and New York City. Mikey has fronted seminal 90's melodic rockers "Frozen Rose" and is currently the frontman for Pittsburgh's "Code Whiskey", as well as working on side projects with other regional musicians.
"Raw Talent" are the words most frequently used to describe Mikey's vocal-style, a bluesy, hard-edged yet melodic mix that has been compared to vocalists like Ozzy Osbourne, Geoff Tate and Stephen Pearcy. Comfortable both onstage and in studio, Mikey spends a great deal of time working on new material, and can usually churn out a song, fully written and arranged with music and lyrics, in less than two hours.
A consummate performer, his 3rd Generation pedigree includes Emmy-Award winning conductor, composer and Grandfather Frank M. Smith and his father, vocalist Herschel Hancock, who sang with the New York Metropolitan Opera for a short stint in the 1940's.
If you happen to catch Mikey live, at the end you'll leave, knowing you've just seen one of the best shows you're going to see for quite awhile... Mikey is currently working on a release of original material, tentatively titled, "Bring It", and scheduled for a 2013 release on Rolling Keg Records.
