Recording and touring artist Daniel Lawrence Walker channels roots and rhythms through slide guitar and a soulful voice ranging from bluesy swagger to subtle softness. His live performances span from full electric band with 3-6 members to solo acoustic, intimate shows. In any setting Daniel wears his trademark half-slide Shubb Axys, the same one he's been using for over twelve years. This allows him to play bottleneck slide with a quick flick of the thumb and fingers, which is especially useful during solo shows when looping his rhythm part live and ripping the slide over the top.
Moving to his current city of Nashville in 2008 from Denver, he spent the greater part of 2011 and 2012 touring the United States as a member of Oakhurst. Daniel lent his songwriting, slide guitar and voice to the dynamic group's 2012 release Barrel.
Water and Stone is Daniel Lawrence Walker's solo debut album and is available on iTunes and at shows as a Limited Tour Edition with nine (9) original songs. A Deluxe Edition with four (4) bonus tracks is due out in Fall 2013, including one co-write each from Jeremy Garrett (Infamous Stringdusters) and Jon Weisberger.
Daniel was born and raised in Fort Worth, Texas, and began playing classical piano at age 6. He soaked in the funk of New Orleans, taking up guitar as a teenager on the banks of the Mississippi River. His major influences include JJ Cale, James Taylor, Van Morrison, Warren Haynes and Paul Simon.
