Metropolitan Detroit musical collaboration RacecarracecaR has released their eponymous and proudly palindromic eleven track debut, brewed in a basement and bottled at Ferndale audio launchpad Tempermill Studios.
RccR shifts the paisley right out of park on the opening track “Playground”, and follows with the tropical sunset groove of “Escalate”, leading into an eclectic and diverse slab that weaves the aural sextet's myriad influences.
Comprised of experienced instrumentalists who have somehow escaped the radar of idolatry, the band's
compose by committee approach pinballs deftly throughout the album, highlighted by the Dead Boys- somehow-don't-beat-up-Ben Folds rocker “Wedding Ring”. Expressive without being self-indulgent and navigably expansive, RacecarracecaR presents an intoxicating blend smokeable at any party.
This is not a record that is meant to be embraced by one scene, it is a record that is a soundtrack for all the scenes that one's imagination can create.
