Lucid Dream Biography
Formed in 2010, Lucid Dream is a 4-piece progressive rock band, consisting of Will (lead guitar/vocals), Lukas (percussion), Keala (vocals) and Ben (bass). Proficient players of various instruments, Will and Lukas also play keyboards on some of the band’s tracks. The band has recorded and performed their many original tracks and a range of rock covers in and around Adelaide.
Lucid Dream's distinctive sound reflects an eclectic mix of influences including heavier bands such as Metallica and Led Zeppelin, symphonic metal bands e.g. Nightwish, Epica, Sonata Arctica and progressive bands like Pink Floyd or Dream Theater. Lucid Dream enthral their audiences with a potent combination of powerful compositions and brilliant musicianship. Will’s mesmerizing fretwork, Lukas’ impassioned percussion and Kaela’s dynamic vocals and Ben's powerful bass create intense, at times apocalyptic sounds and imagery, which are ultimately effortlessly contrasted with melodic optimism. Their dynamic compositional style sees their pieces develop from spacious intros to searing climaxes, progressing through multiple other phrases before the grand dramatic close. Lucid Dream’s constantly expanding repertoire encompasses numerous originals and various covers, ranging from light acoustic songs with folk influences to heavier rock and progressive metal.
All band members contribute to the creation of Lucid Dream’s songs. Will, however, is the creative driving force, drawing inspiration for lyrics from his interest in language and literature. A graduate of the University of Adelaide’s Elder Conservatorium, he holds a Diploma in Sound Engineering, which has been put to good use producing the band’s music.
Lucid Dream’s inspired blend of classic, progressive and symphonic rock makes them a unique addition to the Adelaide music scene.
