Born in May of 2012, “On The Horizon” is an up and coming band residing in the suburbs of Pittsburgh, Pa. The ensemble is youthful, individually accomplished, and beyond driven to make a name for themselves as competent, professional, and friendly musicians in the scene.
With a little help from fate, the birth of the group began when J.D. Russell (Lead Guitar / Lead Vocals) and Samantha Novacek(Lead Vocals) were brought together by their similar artistic ambitions, passion for music, and drive for a successful music career. Joe Harbulak (Lead Guitar), a friend of Samantha’s, shared this vision of national interest and joined the band to complete the core of the lineup. Ironically, Samantha and Joe have both experienced a taste of the national spotlight appearing on Fox Television Network; Samantha was given a golden ticket to Hollywood to perform on American Idol and Joe was drafted on The Next Great American Band television series.
The group name “On The Horizon” was first suggested by J.D. and was thrown on the backburner for a short period of time. While engaged in a discussion with Joe Harbulak about the band, Allan Novacek (Samantha’s Father)stated, “as long as you guys stick together and work hard, I see very much for all of you on the horizon.” These words of encouragement and the previous band name suggestion were enough to solidify a permanent title for the band. To the group, the name is definitely a reminder of the hard work and high standards necessary to achieve their artistic goals. As individuals, they relate and understand that everyone has a horizon of their own; the band uses this title to celebrate and share this comradery with their friends and fans. To them, it’s all about making people happy and sharing the best of times doing so.
