M.J. Wilde has been a performer all her life - but it is jazz that is her love and has always been her passion. The restless scatting beat of her up-tempo heart. And as a jazz artist, M.J. has always most blissfully lived The Jazz Life. She was introduced to all the great jazz performers by her musical parents and fell in love with the sounds of Ella Fitzgerald, Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, Sarah Vaughan, Duke Ellington, Nancy Wilson, Billie Holiday and Tony Bennett. At the age of six, M.J. began to teach herself how to sing and scat by imitating not only singers but musicians and took up playing jazz flute at the age of 10. M.J. went on to become a respected jazz singer and performer throughout New Mexico and has now formed her own trio, Wicked Wilde, with guitarist Ben Martinez and bassist Dave Friedlander from the well-known group The Ben Martinez Project. M.J. Wilde with Wicked Wilde has performed to great acclaim at the Texas Jazz Festival in October 2014 and will do so again in October of 2015 and has been invited to perform at Clovis Community College's Performing Arts Center in January of 2016.
M.J. Wilde has been a performer as well as a journalist, a nationally recognized humor columnist, a writer (she just finished her first crime novel, "Perfect," and is working on its sequel), a songwriter, a highly respected voice talent for radio and television commercials and audio books (available on Amazon.com), and an actor who was once recommended to the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London.
But, no matter the day job, M.J. has always found and will always find a way to gig at night. Because jazz is the rhythm and the bliss - the beast in the beauty on the musical path of creative choice. It's just what she digs. It's living The Jazz Life.
