I was 7 old when my mother brought home an acoustec guitar which just sat in the corner, til one day watching a musical pregram on television the ed sullirvan show a famous solo guitarist ( chet atkins ) performed and i was captivated from then on. There was a old man in my building ( Mr. Douglas ) who played nothing but blues all the time who agreed to take me under his mentorship - after being continuously approched by my mother. I performed my first show with two brothers ages 7&8 yrs old bernard and andren simmons at the renaissone ball room in harlem. Growing in my teens i join various local bands and switched from bass to guitar when ever there was a shortoge of either. I listened to almost any style of muisic rock, gospel, jazz etc. but never committed to one style until my later yrs. That being jazz of course.
