Kerry Spitzer lost his voice to cancer in 2015. The genre busting multi-instrumentalist songwriter has always sported deep roots in pre war blues, folk, bluegrass, and old school soul and still does snarkey bottleneck, deft fingerstyle, and sprightly flatpicked guitar. While his gospelish keyboard work infuse his songs with a subtle R&B flavor, his banjo, bouzouki, and mandolin work ground things securely in folk. His songs still address Midwestern life, the joy of work, the urge to travel, love, longing, and everything in between but now do so instrumentally. He performs as a solo artist, a sideman with Milwaukee Road, Burro Creek, and other Celtic, bluegrass, rock, and blues bands all over the Chicago/Milwaukee area.
