Dan Solan / Bio

Born in Warrington in the North West of England, Daniel was raised
amidst a highly creative background. Both his parents had an artistic
streak: his mother writes poetry and his father is a keen artist.
Inheriting and immersed in these creative influences, Daniel was also
fortunate to be raised in a town almost equidistant between those two
great capitals of the Northern UK music scene: Manchester and
Liverpool. There is no question that the influence of these powerful
cultures has motivated, nurtured and inspired this talented songwriter
along his own musical journey.

His first musical instrument was the drums, which he learned to play
at the age of 11 after his mother suggested this as an outlet for the
teenager's high energy levels. Even in those early days, Daniel was an
extremely passionate young man and his dynamism and enthusiasm for
music led him to persevere and develop, quickly learning guitar, piano
and vocals.

It was clear music would become the main focus in his life. At 15 he
began studying music and continued right through to degree level at
University. At the same time he began to compose his own songs. Even
then, the melodic quality of his songwriting, the strength of his
arrangements and the emotion and passion of his performances were

Extraordinarily prolific and imaginative, he is constantly evolving
his art and continues to write new music at an impressive rate, while
gigging across the North West of England both as a solo artist and as
part of a band.

Daniel's influences include Coldplay, Radiohead, Elbow, Snow Patrol,
Jeff Buckley, Ed Harcourt, but his style is truly his own.
where you can hear self-produced demos.

Even the song titles suggest something big and ambitious is going on
here: "Give Me Today", "We Are One", "Easier To Go", "Crumbling By
Noon" - they sound like the names of classic songs already, enticing
you to listen.
