Portuguese pop/rock singer-songwriter Millia Oz began exploring music as a little child in Neuchatel, Switzerland, where she was born. By the age of 6, she moved to Portugal with her parents, and started learning to play flute and reading music, although giving up later for lack of interest in flute.
Music was always around with her parents being amateur Fado singers, so she joined the local church choir and then the school choir, always aiming for the spotlight.
Having an interest in writing, she began with love poems by the age of 7, but only later by the age of 15 she started writing her own original songs.
Always trying to improve both singing and songwriting skills, she kept learning on her own taking influence from her favourite artists like Alanis Morissette, Jamie Cullum, Sara Bareilles, Natasha Bedingfield with Alicia Keys becoming one of her biggest sources of inspiration.
In 2004, she entered the second edition of “Ídolos”, the portuguese spin-off of “Pop Idol” but got eliminated during boot camp. This appearance in national TV, got her a chance at the pop/rock & funk band “F.M.” with whom she recorded 4 original songs, as lead vocals and songwriter getting some airtime on the national radio and a collaboration on 2 of these songs by 2 great Portuguese rappers, Sir Scratch and NBC. By the end of 2 years and a half, traveling got in the way and she had to leave the band.
In 2009, after trying and ending at the same round in the third edition of “Ídolos”, she started collaborating with other artists using both singing and songwriting skills and released a couple more singles, this time expanding her comfort zone to contemporary r’n’b and electronica.
In 2010, Millia moved to London where she started performing at open-mics with local artists while learning the very basics of acoustic guitar.
As she was building up confidence as a musician, and getting addicted to open-mics, she also realised that her guitar skills were slowing her down.
By 2011, she started performing with guitarist Filipe Estácio and working on covers and original singles, whilst creating her upcoming debut album.
