Gerilla Welfare is an Old School, Hardcore/Punk/Thrash hybrid, Started in 1998 by Scott Kinnaman's love for true Punk Rock. Originally called Burnt Toast, with the help of Tom Ryan on drums, and Dan Hoover on bass, they began writing crusty original hardcore anthems. Due to personal issues, Dan Hoover quit the band, and was replaced by Anger Nation's guitar player Gabe Mayrides. That's when everything fell into place. Gerilla Welfare played shows all around Ohio and opened for D.R.I. at Newport Music Hall. D.R.I. being one of Gerilla Welfare's biggest influences, it was a true milestone for the band. In 2001 the band entered Slaymaker Studios to record the 15 song cult-classic The Pursuit of Human Endeavor. In 2006 the band suffered a huge blow by the death of bass player Gabe Mayrides. The band remained on hiatus until 2010, when they hired long-time friend Steve Martin to replace Gabe on bass. The band played some shows together in the Columbus and Portsmouth areas. In 2012 Aaron Baxter was hired to take over the drum position and Tom Ryan moved to bass. With the new line-up...Scott Kinnaman on guitar/vocals, Tom Ryan on bass, and Aaron Baxter on drums, the band is now tighter than ever and ready to get out and play shows.
