Donny was born in Bismarck, ND. He grew up in a musical home with his mother and father playing piano and guitar (respectively) and singing.Wednesdays and Sundays were spent singing in the church choir. Donny’slove for music grew over the years and never faltered even when his life took a scholastic path. Donny obtained an elementary education degree in 2002, taught 4th grade in SD for a year before moving to Nashville and pursuing music professionally.
Shortly after relocating to Nashville, Donny received a highly sought after publishing deal with Chrysalis/BMG and made his move final by purchasing his first home in Nashville in 2006.
Donny has toured extensively across the U.S. as the front man highly successful band KingBilly, chalking up 300+ performances a year over the course of 5 years. The groups unique energy caught the interest of GAC and
they were chosen to have a special produced on “the making of his band” and their first record. After great success and much experience working in a band configuration, Donny’s life metamorphosed into a solo career which is flourishing.
CMT recently featured Donny as one of the bachelors on hit show Sweet Home Alabama. On the show he wrote and performed the heartfelt ballad "Sweet Home" for his bachelorette and an audience of 5 million (available now on
Donny has sung the National Anthem for numerous Nascar events televised on ABC and has shared the stage with such greats as Vince Gill and superstar Hugh Jackman.
Downtime for Donny is spent writing, working out and doing anything and everything outdoors. His current labor of love is being completed in the studio as the finishing touches are being put on his first solo venture which features all songs that he has written or co-written.
His aspiration in life is to continue making his life by creating music that touches his listeners, which has been his passion and gift from the very start.
