Lak, The Hiphop Educator / Bio

Larry "Lak" Henderson has been dubbed The Hiphop Educator, bringing together deep insights and an authentic Hiphop sound to create his own brand of educational Hiphop soul music. Born and raised in New Brunswick, New Jersey, and educated at Rutgers University, he founded his Smart Music Entertainment company as a way to inspire, educate, and awaken the consciousness of the youth. The sound immediately became popular beyond just the teens - parents and community activists were listening to it as well.

Lak (pronounced "lock") travels the country inspiring people of all ages with autobiographies on Harriet Tubman, Martin Luther King, Jr., Nat Turner; delivering uplifting tunes about black inventors, Congress Women; teaching history through songs about the kings & queens of Africa, the Moors, slavery, the first 25 U.S. presidents; empowering people through songs on anti-bullying, a black male anthem called "Black Men Rock!"; and more.

Lak is a youth activist, social critic, history and religion intellectual, and an innovative education advocate. He is a Hiphop ambassador and a noted speaker on the impact of Hiphop culture.

His album, Lesson One: Hip-Hop & Education, hit Amazon bestseller lists, including #1 in Hot New Releases and #8 in Educational Music. His upcoming album, Lesson Two: The Revolution, features Talib Kweli and Grammy-nominated producer Mercury Beatz.
