Mike Butchar - Guitar.
In addition to Mike being endorsed by Spear Guitars USA. Mike is a high energy live player who stylistically reminds you of the players of old, as soulful as he is raw. An aggressive mix of note choice and vibrato. A throwback to players such as Johnny Winter, Angus Young and Ace Frehley, Mike Butchar can do more in 4 notes than most modern style players cannot accomplish in 50 while at the same time he incorporates many modern elements in to his craft, songwriting. "My approach to the guitar is simple. I do not try to flash and impress, I use what I have to "talk", portray an feeling that connects to people and serve the song." If you have not seen this band live, Mr. Butchar's stage presence is a lively one, full with personality, fan interaction and a certain coolness that can only be desribed as "Cool".
Ron Forte - Bass
One listen to Dirty Black 7 and you will know exactly what Ron brings to the table. A veteran of such bands as Spectrum and Earth To God, Ron developed a cult following with Earth To God drawing interest from major labels in the mid 2000's. Ron's playing can best be described as furious groove laden funk that blends with and serves the song rather than self serving an ego. A unique player who brings a certain flash to the band and makes it musical. Dirty Ron is also one half of the high energy live and songwriting duo along with Mike Butchar. It is not uncommon to see Ron darting across the stage inviting other to rock out with him.
Mike Sapienza - Drums:
Mike Sapienza is the true John Wayne of Dirty Black 7, a man of few words and much action. "I am just the backbeat, I have a job and that is to keep time". Those are words from a very modest but monster of a player. Sap is a veteran professional drummer who has played on various projects over the years and is proactive in the creative process as well. Mike takes his craft serious. This is a drummer if you have ever heard a drummer before. Sap brings balance, musicianship and an uncanny ability to sort and arrange songs to round out the band. A little inside joke in the band is that Mike is the bands MVP.
Rob Alou Vocals:
Rob might be the newest member of Dirty Black 7 but he certainly the largest persona. Rob's vocals are the voice of this band. His range and stage persona is one where you can only stand back and say "This is the new Lizard King". He has Flash & Personality and his larger than life stage presence matched with his soulful deep vocals make Dirty Black 7 a live juggernaut.
In closing, if you want great songs, great hard rock performed by a great live act. Dirty Black 7 is your & NYC's choice for Hard Rock.
