The Jangling Reinharts came into existence around 1998 as a duo comprised of Rick Schaffer and Buster Bohannon. Early shows in the Richmond area, Emerald Isle, Nagshead and Charlottesville began as side gigs apart from their main stint in the band BS&M. Danny Fisher was added on drums. Early trio shows had Danny playing a stand up kit creating a new and unique sound in the Richmond music scene.
Chris Lowry was added as a bassist/guitarist/vocalist around 2000-2001. Chris had played in various bands around Richmond like Junkfood Buddha, BS&M, and the Meek to name a few. The chemistry among the 4 saw an explosion in the demand for the band. Rick and Buster departed BS&M - Rick after 14 years and as a founding member.
Around 2004, the demands of career and school led Lowry to have to leave the Reinharts. Mike Hughes stepped in on bass after years touring with the band The Ernie's. Mike added a whole new element and creative energy to the Reinhart's evolving sound. Mike brought raw energy fueled from the relentless touring success that embodied The Ernies.
As of this writing in 2013, the Jangling Reinharts are as busy as ever and widening their sphere of influence. What began as a duo with an affinity toward the sounds of the alt-country scene has grown into a full-bodied musical adventure embracing all styles and influences. In heavy demand up and down the East Coast and points just east of the Mississippi, the Reinharts continue to grow and explore and incorporate more theatre into their rootsy sound.
