Eddy fell in love with music as a child while secretly digging through his mother’s records. Although it is still uncertain whether it was the album art or the ritual of pulling the record out and reading the liner notes while listening to the music that set this course. Regardless, the end result has been performing, recording and songwriting all of his adult life. His music resembles a melting pot of Bluegrass, Country, Blues and Soul that ends up in the song camp of even a little Rock n’ Roll.
Through years of meeting brilliant and talented beats and artists of all ilk, music has been part of his journey. Pulling from an eclectic mix of influences such as Taj Mahal, Ry Cooder, Little Feat, Bill Monroe, Gordon Lightfoot, Bob Dylan, Norman Blake and Darrell Scott, Eddy’s music fuses a unique brand of songwriting/playing that is uniquely his own. Growing up in Southeastern Kentucky created a unique cultural experience from which to learn and draw inspiration. Currently living and playing in Manhattan, Kansas is broadening his horizons musically, culturally and as a songwriter.
Eddy has played, recorded and toured with many bands over the years from speak-easies to festival stages all over the country and on a few occasions internationally. Groups have included The Betweeners, Boxwine Prophets, Soapbox, Mitch Barrett and recently a debut solo record made in Lawrence, Kansas. In some combination he has opened for such performers as Leon Russell, Old Crow Medicine Show, Alejandro Escovedo, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Tim O’Brian, Robert Lockwood Jr, among others. His partner Heather Branham-Green is a thespian, writing, directing, acting and stage managing theatre. She does all this while corralling and keeping Eddy on track. She is the proverbial “rug” in this Dude’s existence.
