Innovative, historical, liturgical, musical; just a few terms used to describe Michael L. Loyd, President & CEO of MLEE Entertainment, Inc. This Pittsburgh, PA native has the ability to bridge the gap between the old school and the new school in gospel and jazz music. An accomplished producer, songwriter and musician, his resume reads like a who’s who in gospel music. He has performed live with gospel greats Edwin and Walter Hawkins, Beverly Crawford, Andre Crouch, Vanessa Bell Armstrong, Dorinda Clark-Cole, Twinkie Clark-Terrell, The Willie Smalls Singers, Richard Smallwood, Keith Pringle, The Kurt Carr Singers, BeBe Winans, Angela Spivey, Kim Burrell, Marvin Winans, J. Moss, Tonex, The Christianaires, Javen, Dawkins and Dawkins, Monique Walker, Marvin Sapp, Rance Allen, Douglas Miller and Micah Stampley, as well as legends Chaka Khan, Denise Williams, and D. J. Rogers.
A child prodigy, Michael began playing the drums and guitar at the tender age of 6. At age 9
he began to play the piano and keyboards, and began writing and recording at the age of 16. Raised in
Connecticut, he served in the Connecticut District Youth Music Department of the P.A.W. as the District Music Director which afforded him the opportunity to travel across the Eastern seaboard.
Michael has been a member of the McDonald’s Gospelfest house band for the past 6 years. He has
traveled to London and Trinidad to play for various gospel artists. He was voted “Best Keyboardist” by the Connecticut Gospel Music Association in 1989. Michael has received numerous other awards of recognition and appreciation from various religious organizations over his 35 years in the gospel
A gospel musician at his core, and now an aspiring jazz artist, Michael has embarked on a journey into the world of jazz music. Going by the artist name Michael L. for his FIRST ever solo project, he comes from behind the recording console as a producer and songwriter to assume a position center stage as an artist. Grown Folk Bizness is a mixture of jazz harmonies, smooth sounds, and soulful vocals. This project celebrates and evokes mature soulful love. Michael L. since his move to L.A. in 1997, has played with the likes of local bass giant Andrew Gouche’ (main keyboardist for 6 years). This fortunate opportunity helped to enhance Michael's passion to create a sound uniquely his own.
