Big Sal, a.k.a. Salvador Sebastian Nava was born in Avon Park Florida to Salvador and Lucy Nava. At 10 months old his family moved to the Northwest Suburbs of Chicago Illinois. At age 4 he was dancing and entertaining at family reunions, birthday parties, and other family gatherings. His love for Hip Hop began when he heard his mom blasting the radio as she cleaned the house.
Sal was inspired by his cousin Brandon K Taoipu a.k.a. G. Ca$$so who was a mainstream producer/beatmaker. Banging on desks, dinner tables, walls, or anything he could put his hands on to make a beat, he began saving his money to purchase a computer and a keyboard to make his dream come to reality. Sal, with the help of this father, built a studio in the basement with materials from neighbors such as wood scraps and plexi glass. His mother contributed by providing him with a microphone to record lyrics with the tracks. After the studio was completed, Bas Rekordz was formed.
Bas Rekordz name spread like wildfire through Chicago neighborhoods. The words "Free Beats" had artist running to the studio to take advantage of this opportunity. With his self teaching by using the internet, Sal learned how to become a professional music producer putting together some of the best mixtapes and albums throughout Chicago.
Sal has helped hundreds of local artists who didn't have the monies to purchase beats for their tracks by providing them with free studio time and beats. He has now been offered the opportunity to record his first music video through a Television Show called Blast T.V. from San Diego California. Pieces of the video will be filmed in Chicago and part of the West Coast. Sal didn't just want his beat in the video so now he is writing lyrics to the beat to show the world that he has the whole package.
Sal loves music and through hard work and passion he will one day succeed and accomplish all his dreams and goals in the music industry.
