Jersey Julie Band / Press

“The Jersey Julie Band is a trio formed in 2011 with Julie (singer saxophonist, percussionist) from Jersey (New Jersey native hence the name), and her husband/guitarist Olivier Mas and upright bassist Stéphane Blanc. The trio creates in a style American Roots, Blues, Rockabilly, Country, Bluesgrass, .... this group has an overflowing energy. Julie has a clear and powerful voice that is full of emotion. Her excellent singer guitarist husband blends perfectly in voice with Julie. As for Stéphane Blanc, he instills a sustained rhythm with his bass that makes you forget there is no drummer and he carries the trio into a dazzling groove. Some titles are composed by the trio with reprises of Son House, Carl Perkins .... This record is a great surprise. Don't pass up the chance to be close to this little marvel. Goosebumps will give you goosebumps. (Rated Coup de Coeur! MORE THAN 4 STARS, HIGHEST RATING!)”

“Jersey Julie. talented saxophonist and singer, sparkling and generous American, "adopted" in France, seduced Auvergne's audience with her positive energy and smile. Accompanied by Stéphane Blanc on upright bass and her husband Olivier Mas on guitar, she embarks upon and leads you into a world without restraint, mixing blues, country, and folk. A formidable trio which certainly does not leave you indifferent... The CD refreshing and devilishly well done, one that gets played over and over!! (Volcanic Blues Festival, Concert Review with some added words about our CD which Gaelle also reviewed)”

“The trio consist of .. Next to the reprises of old roots blues's most famous contributors such as Arthur Crudup, Son House and Mississippi John Hurt there are newer songs of rockabilly by Carl Perkins or a beautiful interpretation I Wish You Would written by Billy Boy Arnold. Even if these reprises are of good quality, more interestingly catchy are the originals. In fact, half of the album is made up of compositions by Jersey Julie and Olivier Mas who have discovered a beautiful palette of inspiration with a happy country rock/blues such as Great Chance, a song titled Red Riding Hood that resonates like a Janis Joplin force or Hope No Gal where the sax sounds tinged African licks and rhythm. All this is served by the beautiful voice of Jersey Julie and her communicative energy. (Translated from French: In English and French)”

“A big thank you for receiving your CD at Radio Beton Touraine. This disc is excellent in all respects, the compositions are beautiful, and the covers. All are good musicians, and the band is full of energy and feeling: The production is also excellent. So therefore we will program our weekly "Du BLUES Sinon Rien", this Tuesday evening 20H-22 H! Good continued promotion, and good luck.”

“This is a name that may not be entirely unknown. In the early 2000s, Jersey Julie became known in France as a saxophonist and vocalist and she brought with her an incredible dynamism playing next to Danny Dudeck (a.k.a. Mudcat). After taking her independence from the Mudcat Band in Atlanta GA, and collaborating on several artistic projects, the public and her peers could see it was necessary to have her at the front of the stage with her own band... and the word that is needed to describe her and her on stage is dynamic. This is actually a concentrated energy, the trio is explosive: Jersey Julie (vocals, saxophone),Olivier Mas (guitar, vocals), Stephane Blanc (bass). The tracks on the CD are open in style & plunge into the roots of American popular music, blues, rockabilly, bluegrass, boogie … with a fire from hell – a fury or energy hot. Goosebumps, the title, is not chosen at random, as the CD elicits the desired wishes of goosebumps & shivering & excitement when listening to i”

“Full Review On Our Website! The entire CD is consistent and appealing, electrifying sound and lots of little details to tap into with repeated listening..Here is music playing, which goes to the heart. It is an ensemble project, appealing to the feelings, stirring the emotions and achieving full commitment to the "Vintage Ideal”. Their music is beyond genre boundaries. The disc opens with the original song Don’t Worry No More, a hypnotic Bo Diddley beat (as in Not Fade Away by The Rolling Stones), putting you immediately under it’s spell....A remarkable Son House title Grinning in Your Face is performed on this disc. Here, on Goosebumps, with simple accompaniment, Jersey Julie & Band transform this blues...thanks in particular to the outstanding vocal qualities of Jersey Julie.Overall. This CD seems less like a debut and more like the production of a serene and well-rehearsed band expressing their thrill of roots music. ”

"Hi Julie, I enjoyed meeting you & seeing for myself that you live up to what your music makes you appear to be. You guys are the real deal"
