Sidney Mills is a world-reknowned Musician, Recording Artiste and Producer. He was born in the UK in 1959 and moved to Jamaica as a child. Raised in the Saint Thomas Parish, he became a musician from an early age and was mentored by and played with many notable Jamaican musicians. From there he moved to Kingston in the late sixties. Sidney attended Kings College in Kingston where he matured as a musician under the tutelage of the likes of Sonny Bradshaw. In 1981 he moved to NYC sharing the stage with some of the big names in Reggae such as Shabba Ranks, and lovers Rock icon Judy Mowatt. Sidney has been the keyboard player for the legendary Grammy award winning band Steel Pulse since 1988. But he has turned out for artists such as Aswad and Smashing Pumpkins.
Sidney Mills was a former member of NYC Rap collective Boogie Down Productions (BDP) with KRS-One. Sidney has scored films like "Fly By Night", "Jamaica Beat" and Spike Lee's "Do The Right Thing" and is also the founder of New York based record company Living Room Records who released albums featuring Dennis Brown and Sylvia Tella.
Currently Sidney Mills has released "Jah Will Help Us All" single with a collective of artistes similar to the "We Are The World" project to benefit needy school children in Jamaica and Ethiopia. Sidney's humanitarian efforts led him to spearhead with his colleague Sister Carol, the non-profit endeavor "Back To Basics" which is an educational fund for the poor. This charity single is now available online on iTunes, Cdbaby and features roughly fifteen different artistes including Judy Mowatt, Meta Dia, Red Fox, Tinga Stewart, U-Roy and Ed Robinson to name a few. Sidney Mills latest audio projects include full album productions for artistes such as JD Smoothe, Brotha George, Thency Dennis, Larry McDonald and Meta Dia of Meta & The Cornerstones.
Be on the look out for "Ancient Power" by M&TC which was recorded and produced at Bob Marley's Tuff Gong studios in Jamaica by Sidney Mills. This highly anticipated album features musical contributions from fellow legendary Cornerstone and top Reggae percussionist Larry McDonald, Julian Marley, Capleton, U-Roy and Damian Marley.
