Cincinnati, Ohio native My Brother the Bear’s music comes with a flourish and flair and a touch of whimsy. My Brother the Bear (Daniel Bayer) takes an introspective and often autobiographical approach to songwriting. A musician from childhood, Bayer’s songwriting pulls from an eccentric life history.
At the age of 25, Bayer enlisted in the US Army and spent the next 6 years living the adventurous, if rarely romantic, lifestyle of a soldier. His songwriting captures the adventure and experiences of those days. His music is willfully melodic and he blends his interests in numerous genres into a cacophony of sound.
Pop, Rock, Folk, Bluegrass, Garage-rock, My Brother the Bear’s genre-bending sound is familiar and yet unexpected. Sensitive and at times flippant about life’s mysteries and turns, My Brother the Bear brings a refreshing perspective to the assembly of snapshots which make up one’s life.
