Elise learned to sing before she learned to talk. As a very young child, she would repeat back melodies sung to her by her father. At the age of 4, Elise composed her first piece of sheet music. As a 5th-grade student, Elise composed the school song for her elementary school. Years later, Elise composed a school song once again, this time for the elementary school, where she taught as a 5th-grade teacher for 12 years. She has composed over 100 original songs.
Elise, a gifted and accomplished pianist, also plays the guitar, violin and the wood flute. She and her father, JD, an accomplished saxophonist, have performed all over Utah, in all kinds of venues -- garden parties, summer concerts in the park, resorts, for corporations such as Snow Bird and Deseret Mutual (where they entertained the Prophet, Apostles such as Elder Richard G. Scott and other dignitaries and VIPs). Alone, or together, they have performed at the home of many of Utah's most prominent individuals, such as Mr. John Sorensen, renowned artist Arnold Frieberg, and Gage Froerer (for the wedding of his son Ryan and Tonya Nicholls). Elise has also played piano at the LDS Conference Center to provide background music for tour groups.
Elise's music has been heard regularly on KBZN (FM 97.9 The Breeze). Elise and JD also played live at the Gateway Plaza on KISN. Her music has been used for online commercials by Tracy Chapman, (Radio DJ at KKAT), and is used to launch balloons at the Ogden Valley Balloon Festival. Elise's music has and continues to sell her famous brother's beautiful artistic (and award-winning) images, and can be heard on his website, slide shows and blog.
Her music always receives rave reviews. Rob Riesen, Station Manager at the Breeze Radio, remarked, "We put on Elise's music and the phones begin to ring!" Her music has been heard in Doctors' offices and also worked wonders on the 5th graders she taught--keeping them focused and on task better than anything she tried in all her years of teaching. Many find her music to be soothing, inspiring and the perfect stress reliever.
