Carpe Diem started early in the year of 2011, by lead guitarist, lead singer and songwriter Caleb Kallander, with co founder and ex drummer Richard Kanichuk.
Carpe Diem's first song written was Highway Run, with just a guitar part and a drum part. After shaping the idea of Highway Run, Carpe Diem found Evan Davis; ex bassist. They then started tons of songwriting throughout the year and eventually, on October 1st, played their first show at The Grange in Olympia with bands including Eos, Devastus, and others. Evan Davis eventually, after a show at Studio 7 in Seattle, left due to a different interest in music style and Eos bassist, Willie Jansen, temporarily joined for Carpe Diem's show at El Corazon on December 11th. Shortly after the show, Richard Kanichuk, co founder of Carpe Diem, left due to other interests and priorities. Carpe Diem now consists of Caleb Kallander, Tayler Meeks, and bassist Benjamin Nelsen; grabbing freelance drummers whenever they're playing.
