my name is Adam Doherty and i live in Enniskillen, Co Fermanagh. i have only started performing and writing songs a few weeks before the Fermanagh heats for the IMA's and i love it!
i have been working with john Moffatt with recording and practicing for making a CD of my music.
my guitar teacher is Ian Parkinson and i he has been teaching me guitar for 2 years now.
i took an interest in music when i was 10 years old and listened to street performers playing in the center of my town, so i thought i would take lessons and learn the guitar because it was my favorite instrument, but for the 1st while i self taught myself just to see if i would enjoy it, then i finally gave in a few years later and went to private lessons.
i play guitar for my school for different events like open days etc, and i was asked by some of my friends to perform in the IMA's, i was afraid to do it but thought it would be a great experience.
i am in a band of 5 members, but we are still in the basic stages.. but i still love playing with them, it builds my confidence to perform for crowds.
I have only got into playing guitar outside of school at the IMA's.. it was my first ever performance for a crowd of people, it was terrifying but i loved it.
I only wrote my first ever song just under two weeks from the IMA's.. my music and song writing is inspired by the liked of ed Sheeran, jack Johnson and other acoustic vocal artists.
i have been offered gigs all over the country now and i love how much my life music wise is going up hill!
but i couldn't have done it without the support of my close friends and girlfriend, and one of my youth leaders for keeping me on track with everything.
i will be trying to play in different public places now that I've got more confidence in my music, and hope people enjoy my music.
i am looking forward to Dublin and hope to get a good experience from it!! thank you for all your support!!
