Frustrated by yet another one of his bands ending, Jason Hurache Foster had decided to take a few years off from music and follow other passions. But the desire to write and create songs crept back in, and soon after he started to write music again with a recording project in mind. Acoustic jams started in the living room of his Allston condo almost weekly, and these often included his long time friend Scott Guthrie on bass. After a few years of honing these songs, it was time to make it a real band. The pair ran an ad on Craigslist looking for a drummer and quickly heard from Phil Grenier, a seasoned musician who resided just south of Boston. Phil had a lot of experience playing in various bands around New England and California, and became an invaluable addition to the band. With the trio now complete, the band started to rehearse the songs that Foster had written the past several years, and the music started to take its intended hard rock sound. As the band started recording sessions at The Bog in Allston, MA in 2011, discussions of taking the band from a recording-only project, to a live band where had, and shows where starting to be played. The studio recordings where completed in 2012, with the debut EP "III" released March 21st, 2012. The band played many shows around the northeast US in 2012-2013, before Phil retired from the band after the 11/9/13 show. In February 2014, well known Boston drummer Jack Snyder signed on as the replacement for Grenier, bringing his extensive playing and touring experience to the band. This version of the band played a few shows in the spring and early summer of 2014, before long time bassist Scott Guthrie left the band to move to the SE US. He has since been replaced by the talented and versatile Brian Keane on bass. This new rhythm section brought a fresh approach to the bands songs and performances. The addition of Jack and Brian also brought about a new phase in the band, adding a different flavor to the music, and a more collaborative approach to the songwriting. This version of Wrought Iron Hex now plays regularly all over the Northeast US, and is constantly working on new material.
