Music has always been my passion, my joy. I learned to play guitar at the age of 12. My professional career began in my early 20's as lead singer and guitarist for the rock group "The Stat Band" (Toledo, Ohio) I co wrote on two of their albums and then for the contemporary Christian band "Aarons Rod" (co-writer on their CD "Thankful Offerings"). From 2005 to 2012 I performed with the group "All About Him" and wrote songs on two of the bands CD's.
I shared my love of music with my career as a registered nurse [working in the NICU at The Toledo Hospital and gigging on the weekends] until I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1990. No longer able to physically handle the pressures of nursing, my early retirement became a blessing in disguise as I was then able to fully concentrate on my passion for music!
My musical style can best be described as crowd-pleasing. I write, compose and perform my own original songs and also mix in cover songs by artists who have most influenced me. In any given performance I have been known to do anything from Hank Williams to Matchbox Twenty and everything in between. I recently completed a solo album of original tunes. My goal is to remain relevant in today's music scene no matter what the age...
I perform around Northwest Ohio as Cindy Slee & The Rhythm Method with Aaron Keaster on double bass [who by the way moonlights with The Toledo Symphony] and Rob Desmond on percussion [ who teaches at The Toledo School for the Arts ].
Musical influences include Shawn Colvin, The Beatles, Dolly Parton, The Eagles......and so many more great artists!
