It has been said that Janet Place sang before she could talk. One thing is for sure, music has always been a big part of her life. She was a member of the Slims Jims in DC--a band that "Modern Twang" called an alt-country pioneer. After relocating to NC she performed with the Kickbacks, the Brown Mountain Lights and now Great Big Gone. Her original songs span genres from country to Cajun to Tex Mex to blues to rock and roll and back again. In addition to Great Big Gone, Janet can be seen playing with various musical friends around the Triangle.
