Aiken Avenue / Bio

Aiken Avenue is the creation of Josh Jones(Lead/Rythm Guitar/Backup Vocals), Trent Janke(Vocals/Rythm Guitar), Brandon Williamson(Bass Guitar), and Heath Schwake(Drums). These guys are all filled with a passion for singing and songwriting, and teamed up to do what they love, To tell a story and to write about the life that they know.Their set list is filled with mainly their own Original songs and of course gotta they throw in some old school tunes just to add that extra punch! Few songs are "Interstate Lovin' " " Whiskey Road" "Turnin' Around" " Trailer&Trash" Runnin' From 21" and a dancing favorite "Just Friends" are just a few to name. Raised in the towns of Belton, Academy, and Salado Texas, they're influenced by the life they grew up knowing, along with other great Texas music singers and songwriters that have paved the way before them. Chris Knight, Reckless Kelly, Robert Earl Keen, Jonny Cash and Willie Nelson are just a few that have inspired them to carve out their own path in the world of today's Texas country music. The combination of great musical influences and each of their own personal passion and love for music throughout the duration of their lives lived in these small towns is reflected in the lyrics of their music and original style. Both of which has been created with pride for who they are and what they believe in. New to the music scene these artists bring something unique to music as we know it and are surely to show their own version of what Texas music should be!..A couple artists Aiken has shared the stage with are, Jason Boland & the Stragglers, Six Market Blvd, Taylor Hodak Band,Lance Wade Thomas, Sammy Fox and more........here is a little back ground on how we got the name ......Located on the Leon River, about four miles south of the present day town of Moffat, Old Aiken was once the second largest town in Bell County.
A ghost town long before the construction of Belton Lake, the trading post boasted a population of 600-1,000 before and during the Civil War.
A post office was established at Aiken on May 22, 1868.
The community was named for Col. Hermon Aiken, a sea captain, pioneer merchant, farmer, and stock raiser who lived north of Belton.
Old Aiken was once home to several three-story buildings, factories, saloons, and blacksmith shops.
During the Civil War, the Confederate government took over the towns industries and established a hat manufacturing plant; there is record of a Confederate distillery which shipped whiskey by ox-wagon.
