Engagements at the Purple Onion, the Drinking Gourd, the Gas Works, and Bimbos 365 Club launched my career amidst the San Francisco folk music scene of the mid 1960's. The first recording on Fantasy Records included five original compositions, followed by a Runway 5 label single covering the Moby Grape's "8:05" along with my original song "Think Of Me". Performing alongside artists like Malvina Reynolds, Ramblin' Jack Eliot, David Carradine, Kate Wolf, John Lee Hooker, the Youngbloods, Big Brother And The Holding Company, and Bola Sete further advanced my performing experience while gigs across the country allowed travel to locations both exotic and rewarding. Several band involvements, like "Evergreen Tangerine","The Hands Band", and "The Thomas Martin Band", were followed by many years of solo appearances. Forming the production house known as Big Whole Sounds facilitated the release of five Thomas Martin cds of original compositions, the most recent entitled "Viking Sailors". I am now hosting a once-a-month Singer/Songwriter Series at Armandos of Martinez, California, while still offering the occasional live performance which I love doing so much.
